RECLAIM YOURSELF RETREAT
14–22 November 2026, NEPAL
Join Robby and Josie da Bank — founders of Slomo Wellbeing — for an unforgettable journey into one of Nepal’s most remote and awe-inspiring mountain regions. This experience blends immersive wellness with hiking, wild swimming, and days shaped by quiet magic and deep connection. Wander through sacred valleys, forested trails, and high Himalayan ridges rarely seen by travellers, where monasteries, glacial rivers, and star-bright skies invite you to slow down and tune in.
We begin in Kathmandu, a city where ancient temples, living culture, and lively chaos meet. Our base is a restored Rana-era palace tucked inside a peaceful courtyard. Together, we’ll explore Patan Durbar Square — a masterpiece of Newari architecture — and share a traditional Nepali dinner.
The following morning, a private charter flight takes us to Phaplu, a remote region in eastern Nepal framed by pine forests and soaring peaks. These hidden valleys are considered sacred — places of refuge with a spiritual energy said to spark a quiet awakening. Scattered across the landscape are historic Tibetan monasteries.
Our home for the week is a beautifully restored Sherpa lodge once belonging to Sir Edmund Hillary. Set at 2,500 metres among pine and rhododendron forests, this soulful retreat offers sweeping mountain views, log fires, a yoga and meditation shala, sauna and cold-plunge pool, and forest paths right from the doorstep.
Days unfold gently. Mornings begin with Robby’s guided meditation followed by Josie’s soulful, grounding yoga. After breakfast in the garden, we head into the mountains: hiking to Chiwong Monastery for a simple lunch, joining monks for their daily prayers and Buddhist teachings, and — if invited — sharing a lively game of football before walking or mountain-biking home.
We’ll also visit Thupten Choeling, where monks and nuns study side by side. Here we’ll see the monastery school and Tibetan medicine hospital before walking on to Junbesi for a home-cooked lunch with a Sherpa family. There’s also time to visit the Phaplu Mountain Bike Club, a non-profit supporting young people in the region.
This retreat includes some truly exhilarating cold-water moments. We’ll hike to the quiet village of Phera for a picnic lunch and a refreshing river dip. Another day takes us through forest trails to Chyalsa for tea with a Tibetan family, followed by a drive to Solu Khola for another bracing plunge.
Evenings are slow and restful. Back at the lodge, enjoy time in the sauna, read by the fire, book a massage, or simply unwind. After candlelit dinners, Josie leads restorative yoga, followed by Robby’s nidra to guide you into deep, nourishing sleep.
A highlight of the week is our overnight adventure to Ratnange Ridge. We’ll hike through a rhododendron forest to a remote mountain camp with spectacular Himalayan views. Expedition tents await, and our chefs prepare a delicious meal. After sunset, we gather around the fire under a star-filled sky to share stories and quiet moments. At dawn, we rise for a sunrise meditation as the world’s highest peaks emerge from darkness — and on clear days, Everest reveals herself in the distance.
After returning from the ridge, we enjoy one last day at our mountain home before flying back to Kathmandu. Our final afternoon is spent visiting Boudha Stupa, joining pilgrims walking clockwise beneath fluttering prayer flags, and wandering the colourful lanes of Thamel for chai and last-minute shopping.

Who This Retreat Is For
This retreat is designed for bold, adventurous travellers.
You’ll need resilience and a readiness for exploration: the week is spent in a remote mountain region at around 2,500 metres. Acclimatisation time is built in, and most people feel completely comfortable at this altitude.
A good level of fitness will help you enjoy the hikes and wellness activities. We’ll take three hikes between 2–5 hours, plus a couple of drives along winding mountain roads to reach monasteries and remote villages. River dips are optional, but they’re a core part of the experience — and unforgettable if you’re feeling brave.
Throughout the week, we’ll share tea and meals with local families, visit remote monasteries, join guided meditations, and connect with communities. An open mind, curiosity, and a willingness to embrace the unfamiliar will serve you well.
We’ll also spend one night at a remote mountain camp, sharing expedition tents in pairs. If sharing is a concern, you can stay at the lodge instead — though we’d encourage joining the camp. It’s the highlight of the journey and a night you’ll remember forever.
